The horse gin circle at Brow pit is a familiar sight to traveller's on the road between Halifax and Queensbury.

At Blackley high above Elland this small set of buildings are from a 20th century clay mine. Note the walled shaft on the right.

Another horse gin circle can be found at Four Lane Ends in the Shibden valley.

This building is part of the Ford Hill Colliery, Queensbury.

Air shafts Beacon Hill

On this hillside above Siddal are the small spoil heaps from a number of small drift mines or "Day Holes" probably worked for fireclay.
These coal drops near Halifax railway station are where coal imported by rail was delivered to local coal merchants.
